How long should I wait before changing the oil in my Ford Focus?

I just bought a Ford Focus and I'm not sure how often I should change the oil. Should I wait until the maintenance light comes on or do it sooner? What kind of oil should I use?

It's best to follow the manufacturer's recommended oil change intervals, typically every 5,000 to 7,500 miles. You can also refer to your owner's manual for specific recommendations. As for the type of oil, use a high-quality synthetic or conventional oil that meets Ford's specifications for your specific model and engine.

I've been changing my oil every 3,000 miles and my Ford Focus runs great. Stick with a high-quality synthetic or conventional oil and you'll be fine.

I would recommend changing your oil every 5,000 miles or six months, whichever comes first. And make sure to use a synthetic oil that meets Ford's specifications.
