Is it necessary to change the oil on my Ford S-Max every 5,000 miles?

Hi, I have a Ford S-Max and I was wondering if it's really necessary to change the oil every 5,000 miles as recommended by the manufacturer. It seems like a lot of work and expense. Can I extend the interval between oil changes? What are the risks if I do?

I would advise sticking to the recommended oil change interval as recommended by the manufacturer. Neglecting to change your oil regularly can lead to engine damage and costly repairs. It's better to be safe than sorry.

I've been changing my oil every 10,000 miles for years and I haven't had any problems. It's just a way for the manufacturer to make more money. You can definitely go longer between oil changes.

The 5,000 mile oil change interval is there for a reason. It's important to keep your engine well lubricated to prevent wear and tear. Plus, if you extend the interval too much, it could void your warranty.
