What is the best oil for a Ford Ranger's engine?

I just got a Ford Ranger and I want to make sure I'm using the best oil for my engine. I've heard mixed opinions and I'm not sure what to believe. Any advice on what oil to use and how often to change it?

I've been using Mobil 1 synthetic oil for years and swear by it. It's a bit pricier, but it's worth it for the protection it offers your engine. I change my oil every 5,000 miles and my Ranger runs like a dream.

I prefer using Castrol synthetic oil. It's cheaper than Mobil 1 but still provides great protection for your engine. I change my oil every 7,500 miles and haven't had any issues with my Ford Ranger's engine.
