Why does my Ford S-Max make a high-pitched squeal when I accelerate?

I recently purchased a Ford S-Max and have noticed that when I accelerate, there is a high-pitched squeal coming from the engine. It only happens when I am accelerating and seems to be coming from the front of the vehicle. What could be causing this and how can I fix it?

Hi Anna, the high-pitched squeal could be caused by a loose or worn out belt in your engine. It's important to have this checked and replaced if necessary, as a loose belt could lead to further damage and more expensive repairs.

I had a similar issue with my Ford S-Max and it turned out to be a problem with the serpentine belt. Have a mechanic take a look at it and they should be able to fix it for you.

Check your vehicle's manual to see if it's time for a belt replacement. It's an important maintenance task that can prevent unexpected issues like this.
