Why is my Ford Focus transmission shuddering?

I have a 2016 Ford Focus and recently I've noticed my car's transmission has been shuddering when changing gears. The car has roughly 70,000 miles on it and I'm not sure if this is normal or if I should take it to a mechanic. Any advice?

I had a similar issue with my Ford Focus and it turned out to be a faulty torque converter. Definitely take your car to a mechanic to get it checked out, as shuddering is not normal and can potentially cause more damage to your transmission.

It could also be an issue with the transmission fluid. Check if the fluid is at the right level and if it smells burnt. If so, you may need to flush out the old fluid and replace it with new fluid.

I've had the same problem and it turned out to be a software issue with the transmission control module. Take it to a Ford dealership and they should be able to reprogram it for you.
