Why is My Ford Transit Custom Making a Whining Noise?

I have recently noticed that my Ford Transit Custom has started making a strange whining noise while driving. It seems to be coming from the engine but I'm not sure what could be causing it. Has anyone experienced this issue before? What could be the potential causes and is it something I should be worried about?

Hi John, this whining noise could be caused by a number of things such as a worn out drive belt, a faulty alternator or power steering pump, or even a transmission issue. I would recommend taking your vehicle to a trusted mechanic to have it checked out before it potentially becomes a bigger problem.

I had a similar experience with my Ford Transit Custom and it turned out to be a faulty bearing in the alternator. I would advise you to have that component checked first before looking into anything else.

Make sure to also check the tension of your drive belt as a loose or worn out belt can also cause a whining noise in your Ford Transit Custom.
