Is it better to use synthetic or conventional oil in a Ford EcoSport?

I recently purchased a Ford EcoSport and I am wondering if I should use synthetic or conventional oil for my car. There seems to be a lot of conflicting opinions online, so I'm not sure which one is best. What are the benefits and drawbacks of each type of oil and which one do you recommend?
