I've recently purchased a used Ford Ranger and I'm not sure when the last oil change was done. What is the recommended process for changing the oil in a Ford Ranger? Is there anything specific I need to know or any tools I should have on hand?
ReplyThe first thing you should do is check the owner's manual to see what type of oil is recommended for your specific Ford Ranger model. Once you have the correct oil, make sure you have an oil filter, a socket wrench, and an oil filter wrench on hand. It's also a good idea to have some rags or paper towels for any spills.
Before you start, make sure the engine is warmed up and the vehicle is parked on a level surface. The oil will flow out more easily if the engine is warm. Also, be sure to let the old oil drain completely before installing the new filter.
To change the oil, locate the oil drain plug under the engine and using a socket wrench, unscrew it and let the old oil drain into a pan. Then, using the oil filter wrench, remove the old oil filter. Before you install the new filter, make sure to put some oil on the rubber gasket to create a better seal. Finally, add the recommended amount of new oil, check the level, and you're good to go!
