I recently purchased a used Ford S-Max and noticed that the oil pressure warning light is always on. I checked the oil levels and everything seems to be normal. What could be causing this issue and is it something that I need to be concerned about?
ReplyThe first thing to check is the oil pressure sensor. It could be malfunctioning and giving a false reading, causing the warning light to stay on. If the sensor is faulty, it is a relatively easy and inexpensive fix.
Another possible cause could be a clogged oil filter. If the filter is dirty, it can restrict oil flow and cause the pressure to drop. I would recommend getting the filter replaced and see if the warning light turns off.
