Why does my Ford Focus make a loud grinding noise when I step on the brakes?

I have a 2015 Ford Focus and recently I noticed that whenever I step on the brakes, there is a loud grinding noise coming from the front wheels. It's getting really annoying and I'm worried that there may be something wrong with my brakes. Can someone please help me understand what could be causing this issue?
